The Nike Air Deldon’s “Together We Fly” colorway has recently dropped in Toby’s Sports’ doorsteps. Being Elena Delle Donne‘s first signature shoe line with Nike, It brings inclusivity at the forefront of its design. However, more than aesthetics, we finally found the chance to break it in and give our thoughts and opinions regarding its performance.
Traction
Despite being the first of its line, the outsole has pulled inspiration from many of its signature basketball shoe predecessors regarding traction. Equipped with contoured lines that bends in multiple directions, The Air Deldon has amazing traction that grips both the hardwood and concrete.
Cushion
The Air Deldon, true to its name, is equipped with Nike Air Technology to give it more flexibility and bounce without compromising structure. Designed for energy absorption, the Air Deldon utilizes a full-length Air unit and a Zoom Air strategically placed at the forefoot. This cushioning set-up absorbs impact with every step while a foam insole helps tie everything together. The shoe is designed to help any athlete perform at their peak performance while providing unparallel comfort.
Materials
In a bid to prioritize both form and function, the Air Deldon is composed of a mixture of materials including mesh fabric and leather. The mesh in the front section of the shoe helps keep the shoe lightweight and breathable. While the rear section is largely made up of leather to give optimal support to the most delicate parts of an athlete’s feet.
Fit and Lockdown
In terms of lockdown, the lacing system does a great job of securing your feet at the footbed of the shoe. The collar locks around your ankle and heel comfortably helping you feel tightened and secured without compromising comfort and support. The most notable when it comes to the Air Deldon is the use of FlyEase Technology. The laces are connected to a large strap that fastens at the side of the upper to be more inclusive, allowing people to secure their fit easier even with one hand.
Overall Performance
To sum it all up, we think that Air Deldon has the capacity to perform great on the court. With its great traction, well thought-out cushioning system, premium materials, and inclusive yet secure fit, It’s a great start to Elena Delle Donne’s signature Nike line.
