So you saw a video of Kath Lagunsad and/or all the other jump rope ninjas doing the amazing tricks that we often see them do in social media and you thought to yourself “Hmm. Maybe I can do that to?”

You grab a jump rope, put your workout gear on, and it turns out that the flowing you saw on IG isn’t really easy to do.

Well don’t fret. Like all things that require skill, you have to start somewhere. That same logic applies to the journey to becoming a jump rope ninja.

With that in mind, we’ve come up with a workout you can help you closer to ninja status.

The Workout

  • Jump Rope Regular Bounce – 30 seconds
  • Rest – 10 Seconds
  • Jump Rope Jog in Place – 30 Seconds
  • Rest – 10 Seconds
  • Jump Rope Side Hops – 30 Secs
  • Rest – 10 Seconds
  • Jump Rope High Knees
  • 30 Secs Rest
  • Repeat Circuit

Why is it so Basic?

Starting with the basics is the best approach we can do when learning a new skill like skipping rope. Building on the fundamentals of skipping rope will allow you to improve your footwork, coordination, and rhythm; all of which are important attributes to have for jump rope.

This workout helps your body get used to carrying its own weight without putting the constant pressure of pulling off a skip every single workout.

It’s Too Short. I Want to Burn More Calories!

Do another set. To maximize the effects of the workout, you can do the workout as many times as you want. It’s recommended that you do at least 2 or 3 sets to get a great workout.

When Do I Get to Perform Tricks?

It’s all about feel. Once you feel comfortable and confident in performing the basic skip, you can branch out and start learning the different tricks you can do with the jump rope.
