The King and his Lakers may be out of the Playoffs, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to ignore some his new shoes that just became available at Toby’s Sports!
In the last 19 years, LeBron’s signature sneaker line with Nike has built a reputation for being a go-to basketball shoe for cushioning, support, and impact protection.
As always, we’ll be starting things off by taking a look at the traction. The Nike LeBron 19 Low’s traction performs a lot like the high top version of the LeBron 19. In terms of performance, you’ll be fine on clean courts. They grip the floor really well on stop-and-go movements while they’re hit-or-miss on lateral/side-to-side movements. And if you’re playing in a dusty court, expect the traction’s performance to take a hit.
The durability of the traction pattern may also be an issue, especially if you hoop outdoors. The nubs of the micro-engineered crown pattern on the outsole are molded so close together that you might lose some grip when you eventually burn through them.
So, if you plan on using the LeBron 19 Low on outdoor courts, make sure you grab the EP (Engineered Performance) version since they’re built with XDR, a type of rubber intended for extensive outdoor play.
Cushioning is undoubtedly the strongest attribute of LeBron’s signature line, and the LeBron 19 Low stays true to that.
The shoe removes the Zoom Air pods in the forefoot that came with the high tops and instead combines the visible Max Air unit in the heel with full length React foam in the midsole.
The React foam in the midsole feels really good under foot. It’s relatively responsive compared to most LeBrons, and you can feel it, well, React-ing to your every step on the court.
The Max Air unit also feels good, albeit a little stiff. Nike increased the air pressure in the Max Air units in the 19s to add more stability to the shoe without compromising the impact protection.
It has little-to-no court feel, but it’s definitely a great shoe to play in if you love playing in shoes with amazing cushion.
The LeBron 19 Low features a single bootie construction wrapped in a reinforced weave material for its upper to keep the shoe lightweight and breathable without sacrificing durability.
The shoe also features a synthetic leather material on the toe cap for added containment to your foot and the React midsole.
The materials feel nice to the touch, strong, and relatively premium; which in my opinion is a must, considering its price tag and the fact that it’s a LeBron signature shoe.
Lockdown & Fit
In terms of fit, they run true to size for me. I got the size I usually wear in Nikes and it fits me just right. They aren’t long and they aren’t too narrow. If I could point something out about the fit though, I would have liked it if it was more snug.
I’m not saying that it doesn’t wrap around your foot but I personally like a more snug fit.
Of course, not all feet are the same so if you still have time to do your own research, you can drop by your nearest Toby’s Sports store to try the shoe out for yourself.
The Nike LeBron 19 Low stays consistent and stays true to the LeBron sneaker line’s identity. You can tell that this shoe was built for LeBron’s 250 lbs. build and explosive play style. The heavy focus on support and cushioning may make the shoe feel clunky at times, especially if you’re a shifty player.
But it still doesn’t take away from the fact that the LeBron 19 Low is a solid basketball shoe that provides adequate traction, a ton of cushioning and impact protection, and ample support all built with premium materials.
The Nike Zoom LeBron 19 Low in the Fruity Pebbles colorway is available at P 8,595.
