A great source of motivation for fitness goals is having someone you can work out with. Having a person close to you reach for their fitness goals with you can definitely be both inspiring and motivational.

Plus having a workout partner that holds you accountable and makes sure you stay on track is sure a huge advantage.

And if that person happens to be your significant other, it definitely adds a new dynamic to your relationship.

So, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day, here are a few pair exercises you can add to your routines.

RESISTANCE BAND CHEST PRESS

In this workout, you hold both ends of a resistance band and loop it behind your back while your partner positions themselves behind you.

The partner should then grip the looped portion of the resistance band and step back until there's some tension. Slowly bend both arms at your elbow, forming a 90-degree angle. As you step one leg forward, fully extend both arms in front of you, rotating your palms toward the floor.

MEDICINE BALL SIT-UP (PASS)

With feet flat on floor and knees bent, both you and your partner will lie down flat on your backs. One of you will then hold a medicine ball above their head while it’s still on the floor.

Now when you perform a sit-up, you bring the medicine ball with you and pass it to your partner at the top of the sit-up. The partner with the medicine ball on the receiving end will then lie back down and tap ball on the floor.

This is a great workout that can improve your core strength, especially with the added weight of the medicine ball.

SHOULDER TAP PUSH-UPS

Face your partner while in a push-up position. Perform a push-up together and at the top of each rep, you tap each other’s shoulders with one hand.

Don’t forget to switch the hand that you use to tap each other’s shoulders. This is a good opportunity for some friendly competition: Who can last longer and perform more shoulder taps? This is a simple and fun exercise that’s great for strengthening your arms and core.

On the days when you feel like you’re in a rut and need to shake up your fitness routine, incorporating partner workouts can inject you and your partner with some much-needed energy to push through the workout.

Now, if you don’t have someone you can call your significant other, we’re sorry but we can’t really give you tips on that. But hey, you can always do it with a friend!
