With all the courts that are closed down, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that sports and fitness should take a backseat in our lives.

However, that’s just not the case in these trying times. As a matter of fact, it’s a valid argument to say that physical health and fitness is a priority now more than ever because of the global pandemic.

So don’t let the limited access to gyms and sports facilities keep you from playing the sports that you love. You don’t need to go to your local fitness establishments to work up a good sweat, and you can easily accomplish a lot in and around your house.

Whether you want to keep your skills for your chosen sport sharp or you really just want to play, you can do it in the comfort of your own home. All you need is the right set of equipment.

BASKETBALL

For a basketball-crazy country like the Philippines, the decision to close down basketball courts all around the country hurt. I’m sure that many ballers in the country would agree about that.

Thankfully, you can always get a good basketball set for your home. As long as you have an open space in and/or around your house like a yard or a fenced rooftop, getting your basketball fix is easy.

And of course, you should never get your own basketball.

BADMINTON

If basketball isn’t your thing and you’re more of a racquet sports kind of person, badminton is definitely the way to go.

I’m sure most of you have taken part in the old street-side badminton session. And if you haven’t taken part in any of them, I’m sure you’ve at least seen some of the people in your neighborhood play.

One of the things that is so great about casual badminton is that you don’t really need the net. All you need are some racquets, some shuttlecocks, an open area (preferably within your home), and you’re set to play.

But if you really want to add a bit of level of legitimacy to your games at home, you can always get a portable badminton net!

Badminton’s definitely a sport that’s delivers a fun experience that you can share with your family and it’s definitely a great non-running cardio alternative.
