The NBA recently announced that their Board of Governor’s approved the 2019 – 2020 season’s restart later this month.

22 teams, all fighting for playoff positioning, will play a slate of eight games starting July 30. The games played at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. The venues for all games will be inside the Arena, Field House, and Visa Athletic Center.

The league will also be introducing a play-in tournament for the final spots in the Eastern Conference and Western Conference postseason brackets.
The eight games that the 22 teams will be playing will help finalize the playoff seeding for both conferences. This means that teams will end up playing a total of 73 games before the playoffs begin; a full 9 games down from the usual 82 games.

The play-in tournament is basically be a best-of-two series where the No. 9 seed will have to win two head-to-head matchups to take over the No. 8 spot.

If the team with the eighth-best record in its conference is four or more games ahead of the team with the ninth-best record in the same conference, no play-in tournament will be necessary. The eighth playoff berth will simply go to the team with the eighth best record.

However, if the team with the eighth-best record in its conference is ahead by less than four games of the team against the team with the ninth-best record in the same conference, then we'll have a battle for the final spot between those two teams.

The first round of the playoffs will begin on August 17. The second round will begin on August 31. The conference finals will begin on September 15. The NBA Finals will begin on September 30.
